"I won't play favorites or try to flatter anyone." Who wouldn't love to have someone in their life like that? I get tired within seconds of being around people who play favorites or try to flatter others? It makes me sick inside. I am sorry to admit I too have been guilty of this very thing at times. Yet, deep within the book of Job, we find an "In-n-Out" character who promises not to play favorites. How refreshing! His name is Elihu and God uses this young whippersnapper who has remained silent to finally "speak [his] mind" to offer insight to Job instead of condemning him.
Imagine you are suffering. Well some of you don't have to imagine . . . you are suffering; have lost everything you own, lost your job, lost someone you love, been rejected and deserted by friends, lost your place at the table, and now you or a family member are suffering physically without health insurance. Job can relate. Well, I suppose I don't remember reading about the health insurance thing in the Book of Job. Regardless, you are in pain and searching for what is next; crying out to others, out to God, maybe even questioning God like Job did. You need someone to offer something fresh in your life. No doubt, you need Jesus, who will remain your faithful friend forever, but you also could use some others who may be in your life for just a season, "In-n-Out" to help you grow, heal, and move on - GET UNSTUCK!
In Vegas we love our "In-n-Out" burger joints. Their philosophy has remained simple: "Give customers the freshest, highest quality foods you can buy and provide them with friendly service in a sparkling clean environment." " In-n-Out" keeps it simple and they remain successful. One thing you may not know is that they are in the business of being "In-n-Out" of abused and neglected children's lives in a good way. That's right, they believe in giving back to the community and have a foundation set up to help these forgotten children.
In Small Groups, our philosophy is quite simple as well: paraphrased, "accept others wherever they are on the journey and together grow in full devotion to Jesus." Imagine having the opportunity to be an "In-n-Out" Elihu in a Job's life. Imagine the possibility of hearing a Job pray for friends who have condemned him and watching God bless him with double portions of what he had lost. Imagine being in a Small Group of people and watching life miraculously change because of Christ's love and the Elihus placed within the group. Imagine giving back to your community - being willing to be "In-n-Out" examples of Jesus. Imagine the foundation you will be able to build upon by joining a Small Group! What are the endless and supernatural possibilities?
